Begin with a useful distinction

Start with the reading you can currently manage. A learner who is still identifying joined letters may need foundation work alongside pronunciation. Explain that to the teacher rather than assuming a Tajweed course requires pretending to be fluent. The useful question is which correction can be understood and practised at this stage without overloading the reading task.

Make the next step practical

Connect the explanation to a sound. When a rule is introduced, ask for an example and listen to what the teacher wants you to notice. Then make your own attempt. A technical term can help organise knowledge, but repeating its definition is not proof that the pronunciation has changed. It is reasonable to ask for a smaller example or a clearer demonstration.

Notice what the experience tells you

Put a corrected word back into context. An isolated example may feel easy but become uncertain in a phrase. Later, try a different suitable example of the same pattern. This helps distinguish an applied skill from memory of one word. Keep the exercise small enough to listen carefully rather than using speed as evidence of progress.

Keep the plan clear enough to return to

End the lesson with a clear practice note. Record the passage, the correction and any unresolved question. Do not create a list of every possible rule to study at once. A focused return makes the next lesson more useful because the teacher can hear what changed and what remained uncertain. Careful repetition is more helpful when it has a specific purpose.

What a useful correction note sounds like

A correction note should help you recreate the learning task, not merely remind you that something was wrong. Record the word or passage and the feature the teacher asked you to notice. If the note only contains a technical rule name you cannot explain, ask for a clearer description before relying on it at home.

At the next lesson, return to the same example and then a suitable fresh one. Explain whether the uncertainty appeared in the word alone or only in connected reading. This gives feedback a direction. You are checking whether the correction has become usable, rather than collecting another term or trying to sound faster without knowing what improved.
